Tuesday Ten

Tuesday Ten

Happy Tuesday! As I mentioned last week, each Tuesday, you'll start seeing things that are on my mind, things that I love and things that I'm thinking about this week.

So, without further ado, installment two!

1. Los Penasquitos Canyon Reserve
Yesterday, November Project San Diego took me to Los Penasquitos Canyon Reserve for a (chilly) morning 5K. This canyon trail used to be my lunchtime run stomping grounds when I worked further north in San Diego, so it was a nice bit of nostalgia. Everything in the canyon was so green (yay - no more drought!), and I went slow to enjoy every bit of the surrounding scenery.

2. Free & Crowned
My sweet friend Alex got me on to Free & Crowned - an online headband store whose proceeds go to charitable organizations that combat the human trafficking epidemic, like PROJECT FUTURES, Love146 and A21 Campaign. The headbands are adorable and unique (and make me feel like Blair Waldorf) and support a great cause. Win-win.

3. Pacific Beach Fish Shop
This past Friday, I went to PB Fish Shop for dinner with my friend Leah, who had been craving tacos for the past month. Meanwhile, I always look for an excuse to get tacos. My fish tacos were well worth the wait - and I left stuffed. My favorite? The Spicy Dorado.

4. Runs with Friends
I've always been more of a solo runner than a social runner. I enjoy listening to my music or podcast with no interruption. I also selfishly like going at my speed - whether I'm feeling fast or slow, there's no one to judge me or feel the pressure to maintain my pace for. However, this weekend, I challenged myself to run twice with two different people. And, of course, I had so much fun. I shared two great, authentic and very real conversations that made me think and had two totally great workouts. Maybe social runners are on to something...

5. MLB
Opening Day was last week...and it's the one time of the year I hate not having cable. Anyways, go Angels!

6. Stance Socks
I stopped into Milestone Running to pick up a pair of shoes last week and ended up with a few pairs of Stance socks. My sister raved about them for the last few years, but I never understood the hype until I ran in their running line. The socks are super breathable, there's slight compression (but the sock is still soft)...and they're so cute!

7. Friday Night Friend Time
For the past year or two, I have pretty solely reserved my Friday nights for self-care time. I make myself a nice dinner, catch up on my Shonda Rhimes shows, cuddle with my kitty, take a bath, you get it. This Friday, however, was my friend Katie's birthday, so I decided to make an exception. Before her party, my friend Leah came over to hang out and grab dinner. We headed to a bar in PB after to join Katie. Despite my initial hesitation to give up my Friday night routine, I had so much fun! It was nice to see friends I hadn't in awhile and catch up. It felt like self-care in and of itself. Sometimes, a break from routine does the soul some good.

8. Kitten Snuggles
I had a super rough work week last night (as in, never ending). It was nice to have Walt snuggle into me every night. It's like he knew to comfort me. Pets are great.

9. Lazy Sundays
If you know me, you know I like to go, go, go. Meanwhile, Nick is the opposite...and it's been rubbing off hard. This Sunday, I suggested a lazy Sunday after I went on a run with a new friend. We lounged around and read, did crossword puzzles, napped. It was a really refreshing change and had me rested up for this week.

10. Guava Mimosas
My aunt and uncle visited San Diego on Saturday and we went out to brunch at a restaurant that overlooked the water. Gorgeous. I splurged and ordered a guava mimosa (or 2...or 3...). I'd never even heard of them! Holy moly, it was so good! Less in-your-face sweet than a regular mimosa. Yum.

What are you into this week? I'd love to hear!
