Tuesday Ten

Tuesday Ten

One of the many reasons I first began blogging was my idolization of Lauren Conrad (LC, if you will). I was obsessed with everything she did and wore, admired her business savvy...and loved reading her brand's blog. When LC originally began her blog, she used to post weekly "Tuesday Ten" content - ten things that were on her mind, that she loved and so on. I picked up this concept for my blog in college, but for some reason or another tossed it to the wayside when I graduated and moved blog domains.

Well, between getting back to my roots and feeling inspired by my fellow runner and writer friend Lauren P.'s "What I'm Into Wednesday" lists that I look forward to for recommendations on all sorts of things, I'm bringing Emily's Tuesday Ten back. Yay!

1. Bitchin' Sauce
For all of my fellow legume-allergy pals who envy their friends dipping crudites and chips into hummus, Bitchin' Sauce is a godsend. It mimics the texture of hummus - but is made of almonds!! Finally, I don't have to eat my carrots and celery plain. I absolutely love the Chipotle flavor (which is now available in tubs at Costcos in the San Diego area).

2. Up & Vanished
If you know me, you know I have this weird huge obsession with true crime. I promise it's not weird! It just fascinates me. Per the recommendation of my sister, I started the podcast Up & Vanished two weeks ago...and binged so hard I am officially caught up. The investigative podcast looks into the disappearance of Tara Grinstead in 2005. The case was cold...but throughout the duration of the podcast, things are dug up. Dun, dun, dun. The host of the podcast does an amazing job editing and keeping the story engaging. I look forward to driving because it means I get to listen!

3. Hello Birdie Nail & Lash Lab
I was assigned a profile on the owner (who is a badass mom and bassist, by the way) of Hello Birdie Nail & Lash Lab for a magazine I contribute to - and couldn't have been more excited as I constantly admired their pretty Instagram feed of nail art. I finally decided to go in after an evening of exploring my favorite North Park boutiques and absolutely loved the salon. The salon was clean, everyone was friendly and the nail artist transformed my nails with a cute negative space design (with eco-friendly polish - what!!). Nothing like some pampering...and some trendy nails!

4. Turkish Lattes
Turkish lattes are my new favorite twist on the espresso & milk combo - they add in ground cardamom and raw sugar. My favorite in the San Diego area? The one at Lofty Coffee

5. Sweet Potato Oatmeal
I've been looking for ways to bulk up my morning bowl of oatmeal so I stay full longer. Pinterest recipes suggested adding in sweet potato. I thought the idea was funky until I tried it - amazing flavor and I honestly have been staying full until lunch! Plus, it's super simple: bake a sweet potato (or throw it in the microwave for 7-8 minutes in a damp paper towel), mash the potato, mix it in with oats and cinnamon and a little dash of honey and you are good to go!

6. Officine Buona Forchetta
As a huge fan of the original Buona Forchetta in South Park, I was excited when the founder's new concept (paired with the founder of BiCe) Officine Buona Forchetta opened in Liberty Station! Nick and I made it our date night to check out the spot this past Saturday. Despite a long wait (which gave us a chance to walk around Liberty Station's art galleries and market), it was amazing. The pizza (big enough to share!), salad and wine were all on point and the outdoor lighting was adorable. Perfect date night spot, for sure.

7. Adobe Spark
I am a huge fan of the Adobe Creative Cloud, but had never tried out Adobe Spark, which is free. Well, if you are a social media manager, this will become your lifesaver. It's super simple and user-friendly to design creative, custom images for any type of occasion. I sat for four hours creating Instagrams for my company the other day. It's addicting (or I am nerdy).

8. Lady Killas SD
I hate networking, but I've been trying to make a point of it lately. So, off my friend Leah and I went to the latest Lady Killas meetup. Lady Killas is a monthly meetup for women leaders in the creative field. This month's was hosted at The Rose Wine Bar in South Park and featured two social media girl bosses - right up my alley in so many ways. I left feeling inspired and put together a plan to finish my website. It was just the kick I needed for motivation. Plus, it was an awesome environment to be surrounded by so many powerful, passionate gals.

9. Costco
I finally renewed my Costco membership, and I forgot how it was the greatest thing. So many gas savings, so many snacks. I think I'm set on toilet paper and coffee for a year after yesterday's venture there.

10. Triangl Swimsuits
It's finally been nice enough in San Diego (I know - who am I to complain...) to sit out at the beach and play in the ocean. I ordered a Triangl swimsuit before my February trip to Cabo, and I can't stop wearing it! The neoprene fits like a glove and keeps everything held in so you can be active in it. But, it's still super simple and cute!

What are you into this week?
