October in Review

Happy November!! While October is notoriously my favorite month, November means it's the start of holiday season, and I'm so excited for this time of year (particularly, the food if we're being honest!).

Every month, I like to reflect on things I've experienced, accomplished, tried. It's so easy to forget all the good things sometimes! Here are my October highlights:

  • My friends surprised me with an early birthday cycle bar crawl! On the first weekend of October, my friends instructed me to wear all black, closed toe shoes, one piece of gold jewelry and show up to a wine bar. I was honestly confused about what the plans were (and Google was no help). When I arrived, we enjoyed a glass of wine and then hobbled down the street where they led me to a pedal tavern!! We spent the afternoon and evening biking around North Park, hitting up some of my favorite spots - Tiger Tiger, Mike Hess and North Park Beer Company. It was one of the funnest things I've done to date - I couldn't stop laughing. It was truly the perfect present.
  • I received the Positivity Award at November Project. A lot of people ask why I still go to November Project workouts when I'm injured. I've found that healing and recovering from an injury takes a ton of mental strength, and I find that strength in the NP community. The positive vibes are impossibly contagious and impossible to find anywhere else. I was touched when the community called me out for being positive. HA - you all inspire me, not the other way around! I was really touched.
  • I had another article published in LOCALE Magazine. I'm a contributing writer to LOCALE and was really excited for the opportunity to interview the co-owner of Pop Pie Co., a new (and extremely tasty) eatery in San Diego. Check out the article here!
  • I visited Nashville for the first time in 16 months (not that I'm counting or anything...). I almost can't even write about this because it was such a perfect trip and words can't justify it. I forgot how much I missed and loved this city - no place has ever felt like "home" as much as Nashville. I missed the food, the people, the nightlife, the music everywhere - and all the green! I visited most of my favorite spots, stayed with my best friend Emily who I already miss and got to see two of my friends get married! I left a huge chunk of my heart in Tennessee. Hopefully, I'll be back soon!

  • I was able to see two of my friends say "I Do." During my senior year of college, I joined a House Church (a small group) through Ethos Church. The leaders - Emma & Jackson - were just about the cutest couple, amazing individuals and even better friends and support to lean on. I was thrilled when they announced their engagement after graduation and was so excited to celebrate them! The wedding was held on a farm in the Tennessee countryside and was absolutely gorgeous - fall leaves, beautiful weather, Pinterest perfect decor and the sweetest vows (that may have made me cry...). Not to mention, the wedding was catered by The Grilled Cheeserie - my favorite Nashville food truck! I am so happy for this couple and know only good things are ahead!
  • I saw plenty of amazing sunrises and sunsets. I so often highlight the "big" things - the places I've traveled, accomplishments. But so often, my daily highlights and the beauty I see in life are day to day things, like the sun rising and setting.

Even with lots of downs and lots of uncertainty, this month was still among my favorites. I can't wait for the next two months of holiday celebration now!
