May Flowers

May Flowers

Holy cow - how is it already June?! I honestly feel like I was just celebrating New Year's yesterday. Time flies.

May was an incredible month - extremely busy at work, traveling every single weekend, trying tons of new things, and making some progress on physical recovery (finally running over 5 miles!).

These were some of my May highlights - my "flowers" that came after an April rut (showers):

1.     Having co-workers that also double as adventure buddies & amazing friends. I started the month of May off with a fantastic (albeit very hungover) hike up Mt. Woodson (otherwise known as Potato Chip Rock) with two of my co-workers. It was the best way to kick off the month – fresh air, a good life chat, and endorphins. People always warn against hanging out with your co-workers, but I beg to differ. It’s nice to have friends in the office – and outside.

2. Seeing Kaskade AND Beyonce all in one week! Both artists were simply amazing – enough said.

3. Visiting NorCal & walking/running the infamous Zappos' Bay to Breakers. It was lovely to connect with an old friend, as well as explore Oakland, San Francisco and Berkeley. Not to mention, Bay to Breakers was definitely among the most fun things I’ve ever been a part of. The community was awesome, carefree and hilarious. Read a full post recapping this weekend here

4. Traveling alone up to Central California. I’m lucky enough to get four days off for Memorial Day weekend, so I used the opportunity to head up to San Luis Obispo – alone. I hiked almost 30 miles and kayaked among seals and sea otters in awesome caves along the coast. I really appreciated the alone time to think and clear my head – I’ve never felt so empowered, adventurous or happy. More to come on this soon.

5. Finding out that a blog of mine was picked up by POPSUGAR & getting recruited as a Contributing Writer at Elite Daily! As some of my readers know, I’m a contributor for a few different blogs, including Eat Drink and Be Skinny! My first blog post – “5 Tips to Stay Fit While Injured” – was picked up by POPSUGAR Fitness and will publish on their site soon! SO exciting! Within the same week, I was contacted by Elite Daily and will now be a contributing writer for the lifestyle site! HUGE! Writing always seemed like a pipe dream for me, but things are happening and I couldn’t be more excited things are paying off.

And now on to June – I can’t wait to see what’s in store!
