you know LA traffic, how the city slow

you know LA traffic, how the city slow

I graduated and moved back to California to find a job in the entertainment industry. It's been my dream for years. I knew it was pretty impossible to get a job in LA without actually physically being in LA...so following graduation, off I went to live at home and interview until I could actually snag a job (hire me please!).

Rancho Cucamonga (aka home) is great in that it is only 40 miles east of Los Angeles. However, with infamous LA traffic, it can take anywhere from 1 hour to 3.5 hours to get just one way. Yuck. I've been interviewing two or three times a week...and let me tell you I have gotten a lot of solo singing time and a lot of thinking done. Sorry for butchering all of your songs, Luke Bryan.

I've been trying to make my drives worth it by exploring the city for a few hours at a time, rather than just interviewing and heading home. I have essentially become a tourist in my own state. There's so many things I never drove to see even though I have grown up in the area for so long. I've been adventuring through museums, hikes, and of course...restaurants.

Even though I'm only driving a mere hour away, I consider this traveling alone--something I have somehow learned to love. I've learned a lot about myself--like I mentioned, a lot of thinking time. Plus, I've gained some street smarts. Mostly, it's taught me it's okay to be alone. My biggest concern following graduation (aside from a career) was my lack of friends in California. Adventuring by myself though has been so fulfilling. Yes, I wish I could share some of these moments, but I'm getting used to being my own best friend. Once I start working, I'm sure I'll gain friends...but for now, I am enjoying the solitary travel and seeing new places.

Touring around the different neighborhoods has made me fall in love with Los Angeles. Sure, I hate the traffic, but I love the culture, the people, the views. Mostly, I love the self-confidence the LA traffic somehow inadvertently gave me.
