Nekter Juice Bar

Nekter Juice Bar

As a native Californian, I have always been a sucker for a good smoothie. I love how fruit is locally sourced in California, and smoothies are super refreshing--especially in the hot summer and post-workout.

Anyways, my love for smoothies eventually led me to pressed juice and acai bowls. Pressed juice is refreshing, gets your greens in, and offers so many health benefits in just a mere bottle. Props to those who do juice cleanses, but I enjoy pressed juice merely as a snack. Acai bowls are similarly refreshing and full of antioxidants but are considerably more filling!

A few years ago, I stopped into my first Nekter Juice Bar in Laguna Beach, California. It was a cute place with beachy decor, but I did not order anything. My best friend, however, had an acai bowl that I took a spoonful of. I was amazed and curious about Nekter from this point on.

Fast forward two years. Upland, California (right near my house) put in a Nekter! I was thrilled to finally actually give this juice bar a shot. Let me tell you--it was definitely the worth the wait. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and every juice, smoothie, and bowl is made to order and super fresh. The juices and shots (my favorite is ginger) are refreshing and revitalizing. The bowls are flavorful and are offered with non-dairy milk options (fun fact: I hate milk).

My two favorites at Nekter are:

The Buzz

The Buzz is a juice made of pressed carrot, orange, lemon and ginger. It claims to give "natural pep to your step!" I was tired from a hike, so I was intrigued by this description. Honestly, I was not expecting the juice to be this bright orange, but I tried not to let its color scare me away when I got it. Once I got past the shocking color, I finally sipped on The Buzz, which lived up to its hype. It is one of the best pressed juices I have ever had! The flavors went well together, and I loved the zest of the lemon and ginger. The entire juice was light, but fulfilling, and I honestly felt energized. Plus, the ginger definitely helped with some stomach problems I had been having!

Acai Tropical Bowl

The Acai Tropical Bowl is a spin off the classic acai bowl (typically topped with just banana & granola) that transports you to a tropical island. The blended bowl has acai, banana, pineapple, coconut butter, and housemade vanilla cashew milk. It's topped with hempseed granola, raw coconut flakes, banana, and agave nectar. The entire bowl is less than 500 calories of sweet, sweet goodness. The addition of pineapple and coconut are divine--a guilt-free pina colada. Plus, the hempseed granola adds protein and a nice texture contrast. I could go on & on about the health benefits of acai too, but I'll stop for now.

I'm a huge fan of Nekter, and it's where I drive post-workout. There's locations all across California, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas. YUM.
